Arts and cultural education

Arts and cultural education (ACE) and the transmission of cultural knowledge are important vehicles for fostering social and cultural connections. The Juan Carmona Company carries out several initiatives aimed at young audiences:

Sinfonia Flamenca – pedagogic version

As a distinguished educator, Juan Carmona has been teaching at conservatories for over 30 years and regularly leads master classes around the world. He has directed the flamenco guitar program at the Toulon Regional National Conservatory since 2003, as well as in Aubagne. Aware that this musical style is underrepresented in conservatories and eager to pass on a form of music designated by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Juan Carmona sought to present his work—as performed by the greatest French and international orchestras—to a younger audience in order to introduce them to a different approach to interpretation: the essence lies not in the score (the duende).

This project may also include arts and cultural education activities for young audiences. In these photos, the children in the string orchestra class at Korsec school (5th grade—ages 9–10) were able to attend a rehearsal at the Marseille Opera ahead of the concert featuring Juan Carmona and his musicians, along with the Marseille Philharmonic Orchestra.
